At Brooks Hire Service, we’ve been a trusted name in the civil and mining industries since 1979. As part of the Brooks Group, we’ve grown to a network of 29 branches nationwide — yet we remain proudly family-owned, with a strong focus on people, safety, and service.

We’re currently seeking an experienced HSEQ Team Lead to join our Welshpool-based team and take ownership of our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems across the business.

This is a hands-on, versatile leadership role, where you’ll lead a small team of four and work collaboratively with all departments to ensure our operations maintain the highest standards — including our ISO 45001 accreditation. This role involves occasional travel across Australia to support our branch network and ensure a strong safety culture company-wide.

About the Role

  • Lead, coordinate and support a team of four HSEQ professionals

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Brooks Group’s HSEQ systems and procedures

  • Champion our ISO management systems and support certification processes

  • Conduct and oversee internal audits and assist with external audits

  • Provide expert advice, guidance and training on HSEQ matters

  • Manage incident investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analyses

  • Monitor compliance across 29 branches nationally, ensuring consistent standards

  • Oversee contractor management processes and site inspections

  • Maintain accurate HSEQ records and reporting for employees and assets

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Certificate IV in OHS (minimum) – Diploma preferred

  • Internal auditor training (highly regarded)

  • Demonstrated experience in an HSEQ role within a civil, mining, or mobile plant environment

  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety legislation and ISO management systems

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset

  • Current driver’s licence (essential); First Aid Certificate (preferred)
